Vintage uranium glass drop and green faceted crystal Art Deco fringe necklace - fabulous beads that glow under UV light

Vintage uranium / vaseline faceted glass drop and light green glass rhinestone  fringe necklace with lovely Art Deco g design. The type of glass in the teardrop dangling drops is amazing as in the natural light, it is a pretty light luminescent green colour. However under UV light, the glass gives off a stunning 'radioactive' looking glow.

Uranium glass is glass which has had uranium, usually in oxide diuranate form, added to a glass mix before melting. The proportion usually varies from trace levels to about 2% uranium by weight.

This is a collector's piece as well as fun piece to be wearing in a club or party with UV lights. The uranium glass drops are accompanied by pale green glass rhinestones in a row above, each bezel and claw set with open backs to allow the light to stream through.

The necklace fastens with a silver tone spring ring clasp and has a length of about 16 inches. The jump ring opposite the clasp is stamped 'Czechoslovakia' (or perhaps 'Czechoslov') showing that it is a Czech, Bohemian piece as may be expected from this period. It is in very good vintage condition - please look at all the photos carefully.
