Vintage uranium glass and clear faceted crystal bead Art Deco necklace with pretty bead box clasp - fabulous beads that glow under UV light

Vintage uranium / vaseline neon yellow and clear glass beaded necklace with lovely, graduated, Art Deco geometric, faceted beads. This type of glass is amazing as in the natural light, it is a pretty, light luminescent yellow/green colour. However under UV light, the glass gives off a 'radioactive' looking glow.

Uranium glass is glass which has had uranium, usually in oxide diuranate form, added to a glass mix before melting. The proportion usually varies from trace levels to about 2% uranium by weight.

This is a collector's piece as well as fun piece to be wearing in a club or party with UV lights. Each uranium glass bead is separated from its partner with cut clear crystal beads. The necklace fastens with a gorgeous in-bead push-in box clasp and has a longer length of about 22 inches.

The necklace is in very good vintage condition - the beads are hand faceted so there is a slightly uneven hand-hewn look especially in the smaller beads (which may in fact be rock crystal) - please look at the photos carefully.
