Vintage parrot / cockatoo pet bird figural brooch, gold tone with red enamel and colourful rhinestones, pot metal, Bauman Massa style?
Adorable vintage figural brooch depicting an unfortunate pet bird on a perch - perhaps a cockatoo/cockatiel or a type of parrot. It has red enamel on the beak - with the possibility there was enamel paint elsewhere that his since rubbed off over time. There are clear and sapphire blue rhinestones forming part of the design, including some baguette cut (rectangular) blue paste stones.
These 'pot metal' quirky brooches are often from the 1940s, produced by American companies on the whole, such as Trifari, Coro, Jomaz, Dujay etc etc. However this delightful little example is not signed - though it does have a stamp of the letters 'REG' on the reverse, perhaps a brand name or patent application had been registered. The style, design and construction reminds me most of pieces by the Bauman Massa company, but I cannot find another like it, nor a patent sketch or application. The brooch is in good vintage condition - please examine the pictures carefully for a full condition report.
