Vintage Edwardian to Art Deco Neiger brothers green 'Peking' style glass bead and gold tone heavy, long 1920s lariat necklace. Absolutely stunning piece with beautifully made gold tone repousse features and bead caps, interspersed with vibrant green 'Peking' glass beads and cabochons and painted enamel work, with some green and purple rhinestones and a couple of faux pearl drops as well. I can't do it justice in writing, please do look at the pictures carefully and message me if you require more.
The colours are also suffragette colours - green (Give), violet (the Vote) and white (to Women), but whether this was intentional or not by Max Neiger I don't know. The style as well as this colour scheme does suggest this is an early piece from the 1910s or 1920s at the latest. The detail, including the beautiful filigree backs of the panels are stunning and clearly, in my view, influenced by opulent Austro-Hangarian jewellery from that time and earlier.
The necklace has a long length around the neck of about 24 inches and fastens with a secure spring ring clasp. The lariat section and tassels has a further drop length of about 5 1/4 inches.
This is a stunning, highly collectable piece and is in very good vintage condition. You can see some slight chipping to the a few of the enamel painted sections in close-up, but nowhere has this removed all the colour so all these sections look complete. Please view all photos carefully and zoom in as needed.
