Vintage Juliana Delizza and Elster (D&E) 'black diamond' haematite glass cabochon necklace and clip on earrings with aurora borealis stones

This is a gorgeous Juliana set from Delizza and Elster - a haematite glass teardrop and round cabochon statement necklace and clip on earrings with grey/clear marquise / navette cut and aurora borealis rhinestones in shiny silver tone settings.

In the pieces, the huge 'black diamond' pear cut cabochons are the central feature. The clip on earrings have matching cabochons and clear marquise cut stones, the latter of which have been set with open backs throughout to let the light stream through. This necklace has many features in common with pieces featured on page 174 of Ann Pitman's 'Juliana Jewelry Reference Guide' (shown as the final picture).

The Delizza & Elster company called this stone "black diamond," which is actually a charcoal grey reflective rhinestone or cabochon. The reference books show a variety of brooches, bracelets and earrings using different combinations of the same stones. I do feel that someone has amended the clasp and changed from the usual hook to a sterling silver stamped spring ring clasp. I actually believe this was probably the retailer - perhaps Harrods in this case - as the sterling silver clasp has been soldered on professionally. The retailer could have easily asked D&E to produce the pieces in this way for them.

The pieces are in very good vintage condition. The set is provided in a slightly battered Harrods gift box as shown, in order to keep the set in as original a state as possible.
