Vintage Art Deco carved rock crystal (or poured glass) melon / pumpkin bead necklace, hand knotted, with sterling silver and marcasite clasp

Fantastic rock crystal (or French poured glass) pumpkin bead necklace. I believe it is rock crystal rather than poured glass because I have had it tested. However, I have had customers dispute this in the past so I am describing the equally sought-after poured glass examples below to show that either type is as valuable as the other.

Many mouded or poured glass beads were made this way to imitate natural gemstones as well, for example by the House of Gripoix whose beads were used by Coco Chanel. Rock crystal or poured glass / gripoix beads are both highly collectable.

The necklace is hand-knotted on thread and fastens with a pretty sterling silver and marcasite fish hook box clasp. The clasp is stamped 'silver' on its reverse. The necklace has a length of about 19 inches.

This necklace is in very good vintage condition.
