Vintage classic Art Deco geometric galalith (early plastic) bead fringe necklace, orange and chrome, on foxtail chain - Louis Rousselet ?
Amazing Art Deco mid-length necklace in stunning bright orange tones - such an unusual piece. It consists of galalith beads and chrome beads and bead caps. Galalith is an early, casein-based plastic which was used a lot in French and German Art Deco jewellery in the 1920s and 30s onwards.
There are angular beads with a square cross-section around the back section in the most vibrant marbled orange and mustard yellow colours. The same colour combination is also evident in the large, geometric fringe beads at the front. The mid sections on each side include unusual transparent, honey coloured fringe beads. The beads have been cleverly strung on a slim foxtail chain, which is a characteristic of necklaces produced in France by Louis Rousselet.
This could be a Rousselet piece, but is nothing like any I have seen before! This necklace is in very good vintage condition - there is minor age-related wear to the chrome and occasional tiny nibbles to the galalith beads. Please examine photos and close-ups carefully to gain a full impression.
