Vintage cherry red Bakelite Art Deco 1930s collar necklace

Fabulous vintage statement collar necklace with enormous panels of beautifully shaped cherry red coloured Bakelite. This is a lovely unusual piece with valuable beads - different from the more standard chunky oval beads, which I love. The piece weighs a total of 81 grams. The pictures show the beautiful colouring of the Bakelite pieces. The cherry reddish colour translucent beads have some beautiful marbling patterns within each.

The red colour makes a simichrome test for Bakelite a little different, with the red colour showing on the test as pictured. However the necklace also passes the hot water test for Bakelite. The necklace has a length of something around 20 inches, but because it sits as a more rigid collar, please examine the photos of it being worn to determine where it would sit. It fastens with a beautifully carved Bakelite screw clasp with a gold tone screw piece hidden within it. It is in very good vintage condition and is listed with the olive green hinged presentation box pictured.
