Vintage bi-colour uranium glass green and blue coloured faceted crystal bead Art Deco necklace, crystal that glows under UV / black light

Vintage uranium neon green and blue coloured bi-colour glass beaded necklace. The lovely Art Deco faceted uranium beads are alongside clear glass spacer beads, chrome machine age links and chrome cup shaped bead caps. This type of glass is amazing as in the natural light, it is a pretty light luminescent green colour fading into blue coloured edges. However under UV light, the glass gives off a dramatic 'radioactive' looking glow.

Uranium glass is glass which has had uranium, usually in oxide diuranate form, added to a glass mix before melting. The proportion usually varies from trace levels to about 2% uranium by weight.

This is a collector's piece as well as fun piece to be wearing in a club or party with UV lights. The necklace fastens with a gold tone spring ring clasp and has a length of about 16 inches. It is in very good vintage condition.
