Vintage beautiful Rajasthani silver and brightly coloured enamel elephant design Indian hinged bangle, vibrant blue, green and deep red

Beautiful vintage silver and enamel bangle with the most gorgeous design showing a parade of elephants. I believe this enamelled silver work is characteristic of Rajasthani jewellery by makers in Jaipur in particular. It is very similar to Chinese cloisonne work, but the artwork is different in style. This example is particularly stunning as the green and blue colours are so vibrant and the inside being enamelled in green is a sign of quality.

It is fairly slim fitting - please see the photo with the bangle against the inch scales. The bangle is not signed or stamped but tests positive for sterling silver. It is hinged so that it opens up to slip onto the wrist, then stays secure with a push-in clasp that is hidden behind the band. It is in remarkably good vintage condition - no chips to the enamel and the colours so bright.
