Vintage uranium glass and clear faceted crystal bead Art Deco necklace - fabulous apple green beads that glow under UV light

Vintage uranium / vaseline green and clear glass beaded necklace with stunning Art Deco faceted beads. This type of glass is amazing as in the natural light, it is a pretty light luminescent apple green colour. However under UV light, the larger glass beads give off a 'radioactive' looking glow.

Uranium glass is glass which has had uranium, usually in oxide diuranate form, added to a glass mix before melting. The proportion usually varies from trace levels to about 2% uranium by weight.

This is a collector's piece as well as fun piece to be wearing in a club or party with UV lights. Each uranium glass bead is separated from its partner with cut clear crystal beads. The necklace fastens with a gold tone spring ring clasp and has a choker length of about 16 inches.

The necklace is in very good vintage condition.
