Vintage Art Deco style machine age geometric silver tone triangle collar necklace & matching tank track bracelet signed de Farre
Beautiful Art Deco style streamlined machine age geometric Cleopatra collar necklace and matching bracelet. This fabulous statement necklace is made from a shiny silver tone chrome metal. It has five triangular sections along its length. There are marks on the reverse of the bracelet - see picture 9 for a close-up. It is script that says de Farre with a scroll squiggle underneath. The stunning streamlined curved pieces are an absolutely classic style from the 1930s and 1940s. They feel beautiful when worn - weighty and smooth.
The necklace is around 15 inches in length along the shortest edge, so is quite slim fitting. The bracelet is 7.5 inches in length. They both fasten with secure and beautifully engineered pull-back hook clasps that are hidden in the links. I have found other de Farre pieces in this Deco style, often bracelets, and they are all beautifully crafted, heavy and of an excellent quality.
My research shows that many consider these pieces to be from the 1940s, 1950s or 1960s! In other words it seems that nobody knew. However I have now discovered that the de Farre untarnishable jewellery company was founded in England in 1952 and dissolved in September 1958 - so I now have a small and very definite window for the time these pieces were made. The set is in very good vintage condition.
