Vintage Art Deco marbled orange galalith huge bead necklace with double strand silver tone chrome machine age snake chains

Vintage Art Deco statement necklace with chunky, vibrant orange marble galalith flattened beads and silver tone snake chains. My estimation is that the plastic pieces are galalith - an early casein-based plastic used a lot in European jewellery, particularly from Germany and France in the 1920s and 30s. These pieces are beautifully shaped and have a marbled effect in vibrant orange and translucent tones.

This is such a statement piece, and it's lovely to find such large examples of early plastic in such good condition in these beads. The necklace length around the neck is about 18 inches, while the second strand of snake chain and the large central bead drops lower. It fastens with a secure spring ring clasp. It is in excellent vintage condition.
