Vintage Art Deco scarf or tie clip in shiny silver tone chrome, with a streamlined three-dimensional space age design. This piece is so unusual, I haven't seen another. There is a cleverly engineered mechanism at the back so that it opens up to feed a scarf or tie through, the clips back shut. I've tried to show this in the pictures.
I love the way the soft lines of a circle and curved metal surface have been combined with classic Art Deco angular aerodynamics in this design. This piece was probably produced during the Art Deco period, but there were many revival periods too in which it could have been produced, for example the 1980s. In my view, it is an original Art Deco piece.
The clip has a length of just over 1.5 inches and a width of just over 1 inch. It is in very good vintage condition. The lighting for the photographs gives the surface a yellow/gold glow in places, but this is solely the lights, the brooch is completely silver tone.
