Vintage Art Deco ice clear and jet black faceted crystal bead necklace. This is a lovely piece with chunky glass beads separated by clear rhinestone rondelle beads and round haematite beads. The black and clear beads are unusual shapes and stack together to form round beads with clear and black stripes.
Inside the screw clasp there is a 'patent' and 'DRGM' stamp. DRGM stands for Deutsche Reichs-Gebrauchsmuster, roughly translating to German Imperial Utility Model or 'little patent'. This stamp was first introduced in 1891 and continued to be used through until the middle of the 20th century.
The necklace has a length of about 18 inches and fastens with an unusual screw barrel clasp that needs to be pushed in place and then screwed secure. It is in very good vintage condition for its age - the close-up photos show there are very tiny nibbles to some of the glass beads, but very minor.
