Vintage Art Deco chunky clear crystal faceted bead and carved early plastic melon / pumpkin bead necklace, with rolled gold wires

Stunning vintage Art Deco unusual chunky bead necklace on rolled gold wires. The beads that really attracted me to this necklace are the carved pumpkin beads in black - I think it's black, there are moments when I can see a slight purple glint when the sunlight shines through. So I don't believe they are a natural substance like Whitby jet, there is no sign of any cracking at all. My best guess is that these black beads are an early plastic like Bakelite or galalith, which would have been hand carved into these lovely pumpkin shapes.

The clear beads are chunky and beautifully faceted. I am not sure if they are rock crystal (quartz) or glass / crystal. These beads do have tiny nibbles on some of their edges, which is unsurprising given their age. All the beads are held on slim rolled gold wires.

The necklace has a length of about 18 inches and fastens with a simple hook clasp in the rolled gold wires. It is in good vintage condition, with the only issue being nibbles to the clear glass beads - have a good look at all the photos to get an idea of the degree of this.
