Vintage / antique large solid silver gilt Art Nouveau cherub putti belt buckle, stamped DC

Beautiful vintage / antique Art Nouveau belt buckle in un-hallmarked solid silver gilt. The metal has been acid tested and is silver, but is very likely to be a lower grade silver than 925 silver, for example 900 or 800 silver. It was originally gilded with a thin layer of gold - this is a little faded over time but there is still a gold tone appearance.

The only stamp on the reverse of the buckle are initials - I think they are probably DC though a little rubbed and hard to read. I have yet to find who this maker is.

The buckle is about 3.5 inches in length and about 2 inches wide. Clearly it would need to be sewn onto a belt to be functional, or is a beautiful part of a buckle collection. It weighs 24 grams and is in very good antique condition.
