Rare signed Trifari vintage poodle brooch, 1950 patent of the Alfred Philippe design, gold tone, glass pearl and rhinestones

Beautiful vintage crown Trifari poodle brooch, featuring a large faux pearl cabochon for the body and smaller glass pearls on the legs and tail. The head and feet are accented with sparkling pave set rhinestones and there is a tiny red glass cabochon for the eye, all in a gold plated finish. The design is beautifully constructed with amazing attention to detail in body and form.

The piece is stamped on the back - 'Pat Pending' along with Trifari with the crown over the T. Information on this brooch can be found in the book American Costume Jewelry vol 2 p152. The last picture shows the patent applied for by designer Alfred Philippe and gained in 1950. The brooch is in very good vintage condition - please examine the pictures carefully for a full condition report - some slight unevenness on the large pearl cabochon and minor wear to the gold tone, but all rhinestones and glass pearls are in place.
