Large antique Victorian to Edwardian (late 19th to early 20th century) brooch with beautifully shaped multiple clear paste stones. The white metal setting tests for a low level of silver content, so it may be a low grade silver, though it is not stamped or hallmarked. The paste stones have been beautifully set with closed backs.
The brooch has a length of about 2 1/4 inches and a width of just under 1 3/4 inches. It fastens with a trombone clasp, which always suggests it is a piece from Europe, most often made in France.
The vintage condition is very good - I try not to over-clean such old antique pieces, so you can see it could be further polished, particularly on the back. The shaped white metal on the back is almost as beautiful as the front!
