Antique Victorian Scottish style gold or gilt / rolled gold / plated large ornate brooch with huge oval agate stone with gorgeous striations

Antique Victorian large carnelian agate brooch, with lovely moulded gold metal work along the circumference and a huge carnelian stone with gorgeous striations and a smooth shiny surface. The stone is bezel set with an open back to let the light stream through. Brooches of this kind were often gold filled or gold plated sterling silver, when not solid gold - I have not had this one tested so it is possible it is a great bargain! The brooch fastens with an excellent quality pin and old style C hook clasp and is in very good vintage condition.
