Fabulous antique Victorian orange carnelian / cornelian agate link bracelet, with carnelian pieces hand carved into stunning curved panel pieces. The colours and natural striations within the gemstone pieces are gorgeous.

The piece feels beautiful when worn - high quality and smooth. It is nicely engineered, with each panel linked with gold tone pins and a secure push-in clasp to fasten, hidden behind the panels. The bracelet has a moderately slim fitting length of about 7.5 inches and is for sale here in the hinged presentation box as pictured.

The price might seem lower than similar antique bracelets, and this is due to two small hairline cracks in two of the panels, each caused by the weakening of the material around the drilled holes. Both of these panels are still very secure and not in danger of the cracks opening up. The two flaws have been photographed in close-up - the shorter crack is shown in picture 7 and the longer one in picture 8. You can see from other photos that the cracks are not visible from some angles.

This Scottish style of jewellery became widely popular in the 1850s and onwards after Queen Victoria began visiting Scotland regularly. Balmoral Castle has been the Scottish home of the royal family since it was purchased for Queen Victoria by Prince Albert in 1852, having been first leased in 1848. In the autumn of 1842, two and a half years after her marriage to Prince Albert, Queen Victoria paid her first visit to Scotland.
