Antique Victorian agate carved link Scottish style bracelet, beautiful condition
Antique Victorian agate carved link Scottish style bracelet, beautiful condition
Amazing and very hard to find antique Victorian agate link bracelet, with agate pieces in different colours hand carved into stunning curved panel pieces. The colours and natural striations within the gemstone pieces are gorgeous. The piece feels beautiful when worn - high quality and smooth. It is beautifully engineered, with each panel linked with gold pins and a secure push-in gold clasp to fasten. There is a fixed safety chain attached with gold tone loops at either end to the agate panels.
This Scottish style of jewellery became widely popular in the 1850s and onwards after Queen Victoria began visiting Scotland regularly. Balmoral Castle has been the Scottish home of the royal family since it was purchased for Queen Victoria by Prince Albert in 1852, having been first leased in 1848. In the autumn of 1842, two and a half years after her marriage to Prince Albert, Queen Victoria paid her first visit to Scotland. The bracelet is in very good vintage condition. This is a rare and stunning statement piece.
