Antique real baroque pearl extra long flapper length necklace, hand-knotted, pretty 800 silver clasp with real pearl, 43 grams

Beautiful string of real pearls, fastened with a beautiful engraved silver and real pearl push-in box clasp. Each bead is individually hand-knotted and the quality is excellent.

The beads are so unusually shaped and baroque that it is hard to see that they are gently graduated in size with the largest pearl in the centre at the front. The necklace weighs 43 grams overall.

These pearls are old and I believe were cultured in sea water, though I suppose it is possible they were naturally occurring pearls as they are more uneven, however this would be incredibly rare. The real pearl embellished, floral box clasp is stamped 800 on the push-in section, for 800 parts per 1000 silver.

The necklace is very long, with a length of about 54 inches. It is very versatile with this length and can be worn singly, knotted in flapper style, doubled or tripled as pictured.

The necklace is in very good vintage condition - I avoid over cleaning and leave vintage jewellery in its original condition as far as possible. You can see the pearls are natural, real and probably very old, so there is surface unevenness on the pearls, including natural spiky and bobbly shapes which I love. The necklace seems likely to have had a clasp replacement, as the one currently attached was originally a two strand necklace clasp which has been cleverly adapted for this single, long string.
